Art student here!
I'm so sick of Florida.
I'm an art student, currently in my last year and obtaining my AA in Art.
I wanted to head up North.

So I just wanted to know about the art department at UofM. What are the facilities and faculty like? Are the students in the program happy or particularly talented?
And are the Twin Cities the ideal base for a young artist lookin to make her way?

I REALLY freakin far away, so it's kind of hard to make a quick visit.
If the finances are right I'll try to get up there.

ATTN: students with a .edu email address
Amazon is offering a free 1 year subscription to Amazon Prime (Which usually costs $79 a year. Perks include free 2 day shipping, and $3.99 overnight shipping): http://amzn.to/bSH8jP (url shortened with bit.ly)

This is being marketed towards college students but all you need is a valid .edu email address, so teachers and alumni might be able to benefit from this too (though the Terms of Service does say they have the right to ask for proof that you are a current student).

I apologize if you have already heard about this amazing deal. I just want to help spread the word on this before they stop offering it. I am not an employee of Amazon, nor do I gain anything from people signing up for this service.

Failed Class
Does anyone know whether the UofM TC allows you to retake classes you have failed and improve your grade? I did PSEO there junior year and was completely unprepared and failed three classes that were relatively easy. I'm a freshman at a community college now and have a 4.0. I'm thinking of transferring to the U next fall, but those three failed classes will be so horrible for my GPA - can I retake those three classes and improve my grade?

Hey guys .. help needed
We are a team of students doing a research project in the UofM on effectively making people walk more on a longer term for any concern be it health benefits or otherwise.

We have put up a survey which will help us in collecting data. It is totally anonymous but helps us in our project.

It would be of great help if you people could take 10 minutes and fill up this survey for us.

Imp: Kindly fake whatever personal information the survey asks for. We dotn actually need it but my friend has put it up by mistake.

Courses in metro area colleges? Later start dates?
Hey everyone. I'm not a student at the U of M, but I was considering taking classes there to finish up my degree from another in-sate four year university. That is until I learned it's 450$ per credit...not crazy expensive, but crazy expensive enough for me at the moment. My question is, does anyone have suggestions as to schools/community colleges in the twin cities metro area it might be less expensive to take just one or two courses at? Particularly those which offer courses in history or foreign language? I've been looking at Metro State, Normandale doesn't really offer what I need.

Any advice, resources, suggestions you could give me would be *very* appreciated, I'm kind of surprised at the lack of useful and collected information about "colleges in Minnesota" there is out there. Also, which schools in the metro area start later? If possible, I'd like to sign up for a course somewhere this semester, so any advice on schools which have later start dates would be great.

Thanks! Apologies if this diverges from the U of M theme, if anyone can link me to better places I could ask this that would be great as well.

A sidenote: I saw Margaret Cho perform in Northrup auditorium, and it was effing hilarious.

Need a roomate?
Anyone looking for a roommate for fall? Because I need a place to live starting Sept. 1st.

I'm a 23 y/o female student at the U (should graduate in December), no pets (but I don't mind them!), non-smoker, and need something on an at least semi-frequent bus route since I don't have a car. So, I guess, if you are looking for someone, or know someone looking for someone, drop a comment here or email me at hal@halspages.com.
